Men's golf recap: Rams finish 11th at Brickyard Collegiate

The Colorado State mens golf team concluded play Sunday at the Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship, as the Rams carded their lowest team round of the weekend to finish 11th in the 15-team field at the par-72, 7,128-yard Brickyard at Riverside golf Club.
The Rams (+30) finished just two strokes outside the top 10.  Georgia Tech (-16) ran away with the team title, while Florida State (+1), North Florida (+4), Georgia (+8) and Virginia Tech (+17) rounded out the top 5.  Florida States Brooks Koepka took home medalist honors with a three-round score of 205 (-11). 
The Rams combined to shoot a 293 (+5), seven strokes ahead of Fridays opening-round pace and eight strokes better than yesterdays second round.
Junior Kirby Pettitt finished play as the Rams top performer, tying for 29th in the field of 84.  Pettitt opened the tournament with a 6-over 78, butcheap golf equipment bounced back with two-consecutive rounds of 71 (-1) to finish at 4-over par.
Senior Zahkai Brown was one stroke off the pace set by Pettitt, finishing in a tie for 31st with a 5-over 221.  Junior Mike Sorenson (+7) and sophomore Parker Edens (+14) tied for 40th and 61st, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Rams.
Junior K.C. Chang, competing in his first tournament for the Rams, finished in a tie for 82nd.
The Rams return to action Oct. 17-18 in Berkeley, Calif., at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by the University of California.
